Project “Stops Hostel”

Being a tourist hostel, my clients wanted a wall art which shows closest tourist spots or must-see places with a diameter of 3 to 4 kms and also they wanted a wall to showcase tourist attractions in different cities. This was to help their guests decide about places to explore and make things more interactive instead of carrying their separate travel guides. I had full freedom to design it and no rough drafts or approvals were required. We only discussed the names of places to mention on the wallart.

Project “Underground-the backyard ”

When ‘The Backyard’ decided to open a new branch in Gurgaon they wanted a different look. Being an underground place, they wanted a look of a messy subway graffiti. I was given a keyword ‘angst’ to design the artwork. While working on this wall I assumed a role of few contrast personalities and painted like different random people. One was an angry man who wrote cuss words, things against politics and much more. There was a music lover who wrote popular song lyrics and his favourite band names, a roadside Romeo who spray painted his phone digits, an art lover who made peace and heart signs with beautiful captions. End result was an underground wall graffiti which looked like it was not painted by one but was open for public to paint.

Project “U2opia mobile “

For this Gurgaon based project, I had to work closely with a team of designers and interior decorators. I was given the colour scheme, shade card and design description. The whole design went through a series of pencil sketches(rough drafts) till we achieved the final artwork which was later converted into this wallart.

Project “Cafe Delhi Heights”

My first wallart project was a 45ft long wall for Cafe Delhi Heights, Ambience mall. So far I have done 4 to 5 of their cafes but each one is too different from the other. The first wallart was done in Ambience mall, Gurgaon. They had an outside sitting and wanted an image of an open kitchen. For that I made a replica of their own kitchen in a realistic form.

In the latest Cafe delhi heights, MOI Noida I have done a complete free hand artwork. Having too many colours in the cafe’s interior, they wanted something subtle. I have made birds and creepers in black all around the pipelines in cafe.

So the whole process of wallart varies from project to projects. Some clients know exactly what they want and are very specific about the detailing. Others just give me freedom to use my own imagination and create something.
